Block Plant Maintenance

Purpose / General Description:

Maintenance Technician  is responsible for inspecting different types of equipment and perform repairs or preventative maintenance when required in the block plant. This position will also work to improve performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Housekeeping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Always maintain safety awareness, wear all PPE consistently, perform tasks in a safe manner and ensure others always work safely. Bring awareness to issues and potential issues (near-miss) as discovered in all areas of the operation.
  • Clearly understand all expectations for performance, policies, procedures, and standard work requirements of the various management systems: Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance and Housekeeping.
  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively, and building teamwork within the group.
  • Perform to all production schedule requirements. Respond effectively to changes or problems in the production environment to ensure the best possible outcomes for all customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) in English
  • Valid NC Driver License and / or have reliable transportation to work
  • Able to lift (up to 50 lbs.) and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule
  • Communicate well with team members and supervision

Dump / Tanker Driver (CDL)

Purpose / General Description:

Dump / Tanker Driver is responsible for operating equipment in a safe and productive manner in all weather conditions and in accordance with all regulations and company standard work, while being courteous to all customers and salespeople. The driver is also responsible for inspecting and maintaining the equipment in compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.

  • Always maintain safety awareness, wear all PPE consistently, perform tasks in a safe manner and ensure others always work safely. Bring awareness to issues and potential issues (near-miss) as discovered in all areas of the operation.
  • Clearly understand all expectations for performance, policies, procedures and work requirements, Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Operations, and Housekeeping.
  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively, and building teamwork within the group.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and support equipment as specified for safety, reliable operation, and consistent customer service performance.
  • Maneuver and position items as needed. Respond effectively to schedule changes to ensure the best possible outcomes for all customers.
  • Complete all reporting as required accurately and in a timely fashion.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) in English (full proficiency is a plus)
  • Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to work
  • Valid CDL A license, with one years’ experience driving trucks
  • Able to lift (up to 50 lbs.), and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment
  • Operate tablets, laptops, and workstations using various software platforms
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule
  • Communicate well with team members and supervision
  • Apply creativity to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team

Flatbed Driver

Purpose / General Description:

  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively and building teamwork within the group.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and support equipment as specified for safety, reliable operation and consistent customer service performance.
  • Maneuver and position items as needed. Respond effectively to schedule changes to ensure the best possible outcomes for all customers.
  • Complete all reporting and recordkeeping as required accurately and in a timely manner.

General Laborer (1st & 2nd Shift)

Purpose / General Description:

General Laborer is responsible for starting, setting up, operating, monitoring, maintaining, and shutting down equipment while working to improve performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Housekeeping, Using forklift to maneuver material.

  • Clearly understand all expectations for performance, policies, procedures, and standard work requirements of the various management systems: Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance and Housekeeping.
  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively, and building teamwork within the group.
  • Operate forklift with power industrial lift to load and unload block and materials.
  • Perform to all production schedule requirements. Respond effectively to changes or problems in the production environment to ensure the best possible outcomes for all customers.
  • Complete all production and inventory reporting accurately and in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able to communicate (written and verbal) in English
  • Valid NC Driver License and / or have reliable transportation to work
  • Able to lift (up to 50 lbs.) and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule
  • Communicate well with team members and supervision
  • Forklift Certified preferred but will train

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Purpose / General Description:

Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing technical problems with mechanical / structural, hydraulic, electrical / electronic, fuel, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment.  Heavy Equipment Mechanic is also responsible for moving trucks around the shop for repairs, performing service at remote locations, and road-testing trucks to confirm diagnostics and repairs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED (Certification in diesel technology or other specialty is a plus)
  • Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to work
  • Be willing to complete training for CDL Licensing (training provided by company)
  • Able to lift (up to 75lbs.), and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule
  • Communicate well with team members and supervision
  • Apply creativity to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team

Concrete Mixer Driver / Operator

Purpose / General Description:

Delivery of ready-mixed concrete and other associated products to construction sites within reasonable proximity due to the perish ability of ready-mixed concrete. The daily work schedule may consist of five, up to 12-hour days, with overtime on both a voluntary or mandatory basis for work week as well as on Saturdays, depending upon business level requirements.

  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively and building teamwork within the group.

PM Tech / Mechanic

Purpose / General Description:

PM Tech. is responsible for performing prescribed service activities on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical / electronic, fuel, lubrication, pneumatic and various standard wear items.  Mechanic is also responsible for moving trucks around the shop for service, performing service at remote locations as required, and road-testing trucks to confirm the completion of services.

Switchboard Operator

Purpose / General Description:

Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering and directing incoming calls to the right person or department, receiving and distributing orders, and maintaining an organized workspace. Switchboard Operator is the first person callers speak with and should be capable of communicating information effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with all customers and sales representatives whether in-person, over the phone or via email in a professional manner. Always present yourself in a cheerful and enthusiastic way communicating effectively with all personality types and maintaining a calm demeanor when working through problems with unhappy customers.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the products and how to use them to help customers select the best products for their purposes.
  • Maintain knowledge and skills in using various types of order processing and payment systems. Use all of the systems effectively and accurately.
  • Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively and building teamwork within the group.
  • Perform consistently to the established procedures and policies for the company.
  • Maintain effective reporting of area metrics to assist the continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED (Associates degree in a construction specialty, or equivalent experience is a plus)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel primarily)
  • Must be able to type 45 wpm accurately
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Strong communication skills (communicate well at all levels) (Bilingual skills are a plus)
  • Ability to actively participate in improvement efforts and contribute to the success of a team
